2 Day Detox. $300 US /$240 US with 20% discount
2 colonics included (but optional)
1 reflexology massage. High quality at nearby Spa.
1 detoxing IV Therapy
1 detoxing Cupping Therapy. (6 cups).
Blood Tests; Hemoglobin, Glucose, and Ketones. (Thumb prick)
The 2 day detox, requires only a one night stay in lovely Nusa Dua, so it's perfect for those on a tight schedule. Even though a 48 hour fast only gives around 24 hours of intensive autophagy and ketosis, this fasting period can easily be extended by not eating the morning before arrival and/or the evening after leaving.
For example; You're booked into a hotel in Nusa Dua the 10th. You don't have breakfast the morning of the 10th and come to our therapy room at 2p.m. in the afternoon. Because you've not eaten since 8p.m. the prior evening, you've already fasted for 18 hours so far. You have the blood tests, supplements, a colonic, and IV/cupping therapy, and then come back the next day for a repeat. You can now leave Nusa Dua, and if you don't eat until lunch the next day, the total fasting period is around 65 hours. This translates to at least 40 hours of intensive autophagy and ketosis, which is significant. This is a serious detox - a lot of cleaning and repairing is done, and it's only 2 days without food and very little time invested. The fast/detox can also be extended if you're feeling okay and not so hungry. Many are surprised by how good they feel after 2 days of fasting, and so it's not hard to add another day or two.
This is an excellent choice for those new to detoxing and/or those who have limited time.
5 Day Detox. $500/ $400
3 Blood tests. At the start, middle, and end of detox.
4 Colonics
1 High-quality foot reflexology.
1 Detoxing body massage.
2 IV Treatments. 1 detoxing and one of your choice.
2 Detoxing Cupping treatments.
Traditionally, and ideally, a thorough detox takes 7 days. But, in practice, for most people, detoxing is completed in 5 days, if they water fast for at least 3 days. This makes this shorter program ideal for those with time constraints.
7 Day Detox. $700/ $560
3 Blood tests. At the start, middle, and end of detox.
6 Colonics
2 High-quality reflexology massages.
2 Detoxing body massages.
2 IV Treatments. 1 detoxing and one of your choice.
2 Detoxing Cupping treatments.
The ideal, time-proven detox. It's not 7 days water fasting, as, typically, we want to add some quality calories from about day 4 or 5. A seven day detox gives the body an extra few days to bounce back and for most people, days 6 and 7 are very pleasant as the work has been done and they're feeling great. A seven day detox also achieves significantly more from the psychological detoxing/refreshing perspective.
In practice, detoxing requires a minimum 3 days of water fasting. But the exact regime followed after that depends on the individual: how they're responding, their weight loss objectives, etc. While autophagy will ease it's intensity automatically, ketosis won't, as we need energy from somewhere, so it's pointless, and sometimes counterproductive, to extend a strict fast beyond the point required.
Also, it's important to understand that detoxing is not an exact science. Aside from just after a thorough detox, we all have backlogged cleaning and maintenance work waiting to be done when the conditions (fasting) are right. This is completely normal, as our bodies don't have to be 'squeaky clean' to operate. So, while it's ideal to do an extended detox to get all the cleaning and repair work done, this is not always possible, and something is a lot better than nothing as our bodies will prioritise the cells where the cleaning and repair is most needed. Obviously, completely emptying our 'garbage can' is great, but emptying some of it is also very beneficial as it stops it from overflowing and any toxins taken out now don't have to be taken out in the future.
In practice, two 3-day detoxes achieve about the same as one 5-day detox, and for some people, two 3-day detoxes per year is more achievable than one 5-day or 7-day detox. Personally, I've always done 7-day detoxes yearly, as that's what I was taught and what suits my lifestyle and personality. But everyones situation is different.
Hybrid Detox. 7-14 days. From $800/ $640
includes everything in the 7-day program.
While all the above programs inevitably provide some degree of psychological detoxification and mental refreshment, the hybrid detox takes this much further.
A 10-day Vippassana meditation course is a potent psychological detox and reset, and many of the processes and tools used there can also be employed alongside a standard physiological detox. This is explained more in blog posts, but the objective is to release ourselves from the grip of accumulated psychologically toxic, or just useless and contradictory, debris/motivations so we can reconnect with our inner, innate selves.
Often, our innate flame ends up buried and smothered beneath layers of non-flammable habits and beliefs that we've randomly acquired over the years. We want to remove those layers, even if just temporarily, to get oxygen to that struggling spark underneath and then experience the difference. Less is more, but we have to experience it to believe it. Once the hard has become much easier, we can cautiously and consciously select what habits and beliefs we put back on the now re-energized flame.
In Buddhist terms; Our 'shopping list' of wants that we crave becomes overgrown, confused, and contradictory. Unless this list is pruned back from time to time, we can spend our time and energy forever craving and chasing things we don't actually need or want. We run away from happiness and contentment. This is the typical dopamine-fueled motivational mode that most consider their only mode, but it isn't.
The Components of an Effective Detox
A proper detox has a structure, one that initiates and sustains intensive autophagy and ketosis within us. While fasting is key to achieving this, there are additional components that aid the detoxing process and should be included when possible.
Colonics.
Colonic irrigation—putting water up the intestine and then flushing it out along with toxic matter—significantly helps the detoxing process in three primary ways.
Firstly, it's a means to quickly and efficiently flush from the body the avalanche of toxins that is released during a detox. When we fast, we're no longer doing any bowel movements, and this stops the released toxins and debris from easily leaving the body. They then have to exit by other less efficient and desirable means, such as through the skin, or remain within us. Colonics keep the 'channel' open.
Secondly, colonics break down and take away much of the accumulated hardened fecal matter that lines our intestines. This stuff is itself toxic, so it's good to get as much of it out as possible.
Thirdly, The use of psyllium husk and bentonite clay greatly aids a detox - explained more below- but to use them, we must also do colonics, or the husk and clay will just stay in us and give us serious constipation.
If we simply fast and relax for a week, we will accomplish a lot of good. Absolutely. The problem with limiting a detox to only fasting is that our bowels are typically a major source of toxicity, as they're our garbage dump. Using colonics to cleanse this area has to be a priority, as the toxins from there also get reabsorbed back into our blood stream.
Pysllium Husk and Bentonite Clay
As mentioned above, these two, blended with water, send a 'blob' of fiber through our digestive system, sweeping up toxins dislodged by the detoxing process. Bentonite clay has a strong negative ion charge that attracts pollution/toxins (positive ions) and then escorts them out of the body.
Here's a quote that explains it well: https://romesentinel.com/stories/psyllium-and-bentonite-make-an-internal-cleanse-one-two-punch,50103
In the fight to protect your body against environmental toxins, using psyllium with bentonite provides a more complete internal cleansing.
Together, psyllium and bentonite, a natural volcanic clay, can deliver a one-two punch to waste and toxins accumulated along the digestive tract and colon.
On contact with water, psyllium seed husk thickens into a gel-like substance. This acts like a broom to sweep waste from the colon.
Working synergistically with psyllium, bentonite attracts toxins like a magnet through a chemical absorption process, in which the surfaces of toxins and bentonite bind together when they touch along the body’s digestive tract.
Through adsorption, toxins adhere to bentonite’s large, porous, ion-charged surface to draw environmental pollutants out of the body when it passes from the colon. In numerous studies, bentonite has demonstrated it can bind with and remove heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, pathogenic viruses, and other toxins from the body.
Relaxation, Sun and Beach.
Relaxing during a detox greatly aids the process, as our body only really heals in parasympathetic mode. We want to be relaxed and letting go of baggage, as opposed to tense and holding on. For most people, the beach, sun, salt water, and sand are automatically relaxing. Lying on the beach or in a deck chair, perhaps getting a massage, and hearing just the waves is not only relaxing but also the perfect detoxing environment. Salt water is itself very healthy (if it's clean), as it's charged with negative ions and its makeup is remarkably similar to our blood. Swimming in, or just soaking in, the sea is excellent for our health anytime, but especially so during a detox.
Exercise.
Exercise in the context of detox primarily refers to walking. Walking for at least an hour or so each day is essential. Ideally, we'd also include some stretching and swimming (or simply soaking) in the sea.
The main reason for this is that one of the goals of detoxing is to detoxify the lymphatic system. There are more than 600 lymph glands in the body, and there's three times more lymph fluid than there is blood. The body relies on the lymphatic system to remove waste like bacteria, viruses, and toxins. The lymphatic system does not have an organ like the heart to pump lymph fluid around the body, so it's dependent on movement and the contraction of muscles. When we walk, jog, or do sports, it's the shaking and jarring that activates and moves the lymph fluid around, similar to how a bottle of Coca-Cola will get activated in our pocket while we're moving.
During a detox, it's normal to feel uncomfortable for a few days, and this is a good sign as it means toxins are being released. To keep the discomfort to a minimum, we want the released toxins out of our body as soon as possible, which is why it's important to do some exercise along with colonics.
Massage.
Massage is another means of aiding circulation and, therefore, cleaning, plus it helps to relax us. Nunuy is a qualified masseuse, and some massages from her are included in all detox programs, but additional massages will also be beneficial if desired. Ideally, provide your own oil to avoid being exposed to toxic ingredients.
Circadian rhythm reset
Circadian rhythms are the cycles our bodily functions go through, which are ideally synchronized to our planet's day and night cycles, as it is our exposure to light and darkness that determines our cycles. This synchronization of our internal cycles (including cellular cycles) with external cycles worked fine back through evolution, as we all got up at dawn and went to sleep shortly after dark. But nowadays, with artificial light, most of us have a very different lifestyle, which can confuse the daily schedule of bodily functions, resulting in numerous imbalances.
It's a complicated topic and one that science is only beginning to understand, but we do know that early morning natural light is hugely beneficial as that exposure synchronizes our rhythms. It's saying to the body, "This is the start of the day, synchronize from this solid point'. For example, Nunuy and I go for a beach walk first thing in the morning. It doesn't have to be a long walk, it's more about getting some natural light before we get on phones and laptops etc. Obviously, we're not neurotic enough to try and sleep early at night, but at least the consistent morning light provides an anchor.
During a detox, we want to try and reset our circadian rhythms, which means going for a walk first thing upon waking. Here are a few links to more information, but it's something easily researched.

Supplements.
For at least the first 3 days of a detox, it's better to consume nothing but water. Beyond that, it depends on the person and their objectives. For example, if someone didn't want to lose any more weight, we'd want to introduce some calories to dampen down ketosis, keeping in mind that we're also going to be interfering with autophagy if we introduce calories. So it depends on each person's situation, but generally speaking, there's no need for any supplements in the initial detox stage of a detox program. After days 3 or 4, some fresh coconut water and/or fruit are typically introduced daily, but, again, it depends on the person. Probiotics are provided towards the end of the detox to help repopulate the intestines with beneficial bacteria.
As mentioned often, a detox is not something complicated; it's largely a case of giving our bodies a break. Just stop shoveling food into ourselves for a few days, and our bodies will do what they need to do. Overcomplicating it is self-defeating, as the simpler it is, the more likely we'll continue with detoxing in the future, as we can just do it at home when we have the time. It's in the interests of detoxing businesses to make it complicated, as that generates dependence on them. Even doing colonics at home is not hard once you have some experience. Below are a few pictures of my colonic set-ups from previous detoxes I've done in Bali, but I've also done them in New Zealand in my garage, on my yacht, and at times just gone into a secluded forest area and dug a hole.
Note: Nui has a proper colonic set up for her business. These pics were just quick colonic stations I set up for my own in the past.
